Carbon Steel

Carbon steel is a metal alloy and is a combination of two elements, iron and carbon. As carbon is added to steel the metal becomes harder and stronger but less ductile and more difficult to weld. High carbon content also lowers the steel’s melting point and its temperature resistance. The carbon steel alloys we offer here at All Foils is the most common form of steel and its price is relatively low while it provides material properties that are acceptable for many applications. Our carbon steel is neither extremely brittle nor ductile and it will become malleable when heated so it can be forged.
